Volkan Alkanoglu is a Turkish-born American designer and educator (principal of Volkan Alkanoglu | DESIGN, formerly FR|DK with Craig Konyk); he has held academic positions including Georgia Institute of Technology's School of Architecture (previously the University of Houston's Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design and the California College of the Arts), with a practice spanning public art, product design, digital fabrication, and architecture — including the In Flight public installations and the Auto Residence/Park Residence projects (2012) discussed in the Reader chapter. He is a contributing author to Marinic's Interior Architecture Reader (2018), co-authoring its automobile-register chapter with Anthony Morey.
